Shreveport Police Seeking Information on Ford Park Shooting
UPDATE: Victim in the Ford Park shooting has died.
Original Story:
Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department are looking for information about a shooting that left a 19 year-old fighting for his life.
Sunday evening, a Shreveport Police patrol unit near Ford Park heard gunshots within the park, and rushed where the noise was coming from. When SPD showed up, they found a 19 year-old man suffering from what Police called a life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was rushed to a hospital where he is in critical condition.
An investigation showed that the man was shot during a gunfight between several people. SPD is frustrated by the fact that out of over 100 people who were said to have been there, not one person has come forward as a credible witness.
From Police Chief Wayne Smith:
“This was a cowardly and reckless act of violence committed in a public park filled with people. Someone saw something. Someone knows something. It is everyone’s responsibility to do the right thing. If you saw something or have any information, it is your duty as a citizen to speak up.”
SPD believes that several people in the park may have gotten video of the incident, and are pleading for them to come forward.
From SPD:
"Authorities are pleading for anyone with such evidence—or any firsthand knowledge—to come forward immediately.
