Shreveport Police Department is sending a clear message these days. Running from the Police is dangerous and makes things worse for those dealing with a traffic stop.

These three men learned the hard way that fleeing a traffic stop is always a bad idea!

On Monday, in the early-morning hours, SPD tried to conduct a traffic stop on Demarcus Johnson for running a stop sign. Johnson refused to stop, and sent SPD on a wild chase! Police were able to catch-up with Johnson and arrest him. Johnson was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, and two outstanding warrants.

On Sunday, shortly after midnight SPD conducted a traffic stop due to the driver committing several traffic violations. They identified the driver as Billy Gillie. Gillie got out of the car and ran off! Police were able to catch-up with him and arrest him. He now faces numerous traffic and narcotics-related offenses, in addition to resisting an officer.

And on Saturday afternoon, Police attempted to stop Amir Singletary in his car. Singletary refused to pull over and led SPD on a wild chase! While he was being chased, he was involved in a hit-and-run crash. After Police were able to catch-up with Singletary and arrest him. After he was in cuffs, officers discovered a stolen firearm in his possession and determined he is a convicted felon. Singletary now faces a long list of charges, including:

· Hit and Run

· Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

· Possession of a Stolen Firearm

· Flight from an Officer

· Unlawful Use of Body Armor

· Narcotics Possession
