Shreveport Firefighters Battle Evening House Fire
On Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 5:50 PM, the Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) received a 911 call reporting a house on fire in the 9300 block of Pine Grove Street.
The first SFD unit arrived on scene at 5:56 PM and discovered heavy smoke coming from the front and rear of a one-story house. Firefighters were able to successfully extinguish the flames and rescue two dogs.
Both occupants of the house, who arrived on scene and reported not being there at the time of the fire, received fire victim assistance resources. No citizens or firefighters were injured during the incident.
It took the efforts of twenty-one (21) firefighters operating eight (8) units to bring the fire under control at 6:34 PM. Although the full extent of the damage is unknown, a large portion of the house’s roof collapsed under the fire conditions.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. While it is essential to
practice fire safety throughout the year, it is especially important now with the arrival of cooler temperatures and the holiday season. To learn valuable fire safety tips or request a free smoke alarm for your home, contact Shreveport Fire Prevention at 318-673-6740
