On May 10th, 2023, around 10:35 a.m. Shreveport Police Patrol officers were dispatched to a dispute in the 400 block of West 77th Street. The arriving officers found that Dmariae Edwards (8-28-98) reportedly had taken a firearm belonging to the victim and threatened to kill her. As officers attempted to contact Edwards, he fled on foot but was eventually taken into custody and the firearm was seized.

Further investigation into the matter revealed that Edwards was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for prior felony offenses.

Edwards was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, one count of illegal carrying of a weapon and one count of resisting. This investigation is on-going.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
