The names of the 18 players set to compete on "Survivor: San Juan del Sur" this fall include Shreveporters Keith and Wes Nale.

The season will feature nine pairs of loved ones, bringing back the "Blood vs. Water" twist featured in the season of the same name. However, this time it is all new players.

Perhaps the most controversial new player is John Rocker, a former baseball player who made a number of homophobic and xenophobic statements in a Sports Illustrated article in the '90s. The 39-year-old will be playing with his girlfriend Julie McGee, 34, a model.

There will also be some Broadway boyfriends set to compete this season: Reed Kelly and Josh Canfield. Kelly is noteworthy for his role in the infamousSpider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Broadway musical.

Keith and Wes Nale are both Shreveport firefighters. I spent some time with Wes on a trip to Destin a few years back (his BFFis related to a friend of mine) and he's the firsy person I ever heard say "YOLO" (you only live once). This adventure is a clear indicator of how this young man lives his life. He's fun, funny and such a friendly guy. I wish the best for the Nale's and will be glued to every episode!!

Fans of The Amazing Race will be experiencing "The Twinnies" as Nadiya and Natalie Anderson will be competing as well.

Among the other pairs are "college sweethearts" Jacylyn Schultz and Jon Misch, father and daughter Dale and Kelley Wentworth, married couple Val and Jeremy Collins, mother and daughter Missy Payne and Baylor Wilson and brothers Alec and Drew Christy.

This season also featured the return of Exile Island, according to the CBS press release, a twist that was discontinued in Season 18 that sends a castaway (or two) to an isolated island. The pairs will battle to see which one gets to go to the island, taking the place of Redemption Island, which was used in the original Blood vs. Water season.

Survivor: San Juan del Sur premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on CBS
