Shreveport Police Investigating Weekend Fatal Hit-And-Run
On Saturday evening, Shreveport Police were called to Hearne Avenue to reports of a pedestrian involved hit-and-run.
When Police got to the scene, they found a man laying in the grass near the road. Shreveport Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene where they pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Coroner later identified the man as Blake Tannen.
SPD began their investigation, and witness statements indicate that Tannen had been walking north in the southbound lane of Hearne Avenue when he was hit by the car. A shoulder and sidewalk were accessible, but evidence puts Tannen in the road at the time of the incident.
The car did not stop after hitting Tannen, but fled the scene after the collision. The force in which Tannen was hit threw him in to the grass.
From SPD:
"Investigators are currently canvassing the area for surveillance footage and additional evidence. The incident remains under active investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 673-7300 or submit a tip anonymously at 673-7373."
