Shreveport Police Arrest Woman for Family Dollar Armed Robbery
Shreveport Police Department had their hands full with this one.
A relatively peaceful day at a Line Avenue Family Dollar was interrupted last Tuesday when every store-clerk' nightmare scenario happened.
A woman came in to the store with what the witnesses described as a sawn-off shotgun, went up to the clerk at the counter, and demanded that they hand over the cash. The clerk did what the woman with the gun said and gave her the money. Then the woman took the money and left the store on foot. Shreveport Police were called and showed up to the Family Dollar shortly after.
SPD started talking to witnesses and checking security cameras and noticed that the woman who robbed the store had a similar build, height, and walk as a former employee. Police were able to see that the woman who robbed the store may be Marquita Marshall.
Detectives working the case were able to get a search warrant for Marshall's home. The warrant was used to search property on Rainbow Drive. Marshall was arrested and her home was searched. Police found stuff in the house that showed she had possibly used the money to buy several things.
Marshall was charged with First-Degree Robbery.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and ensuring the safety of our community. If convicted, Marshall could serve up to 40 years in prison."
