On September 3, 2025, Shreveport Police were called to a family dispute on the 9000 block of Cottage Ridge Drive just after 1:00 p.m. The conflict arose from a civil warrant that granted a father custody of his 4-year-old child. Officers arrived to find that the child's mother, Victoria Paikowski, was refusing to comply with the court order.

Shreveport Police Attempt to Negotiate for Child's Safety

In an effort to resolve the situation peacefully, detectives from the Shreveport Police Department's Youth Services Bureau and members of the Hostage Negotiation Team were dispatched to the scene. They made repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation and persuade Paikowski to open the door, but she refused.

Child Safely Recovered

With no other options, officers were forced to enter the home. Paikowski continued to resist their commands, but she was eventually taken into custody. The child was then safely recovered and placed with their father. Paikowski was arrested for Obstruction of a Court Order. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured during the incident.
