On March 2, at approximately 5 p.m., Shreveport Police officers initiated a traffic stop at West 70th Street and West Canal Street.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Xavier Jamison, 24 years of age, refused to stop his vehicle and led officers on a pursuit through the area.
After a brief chase, Jamison came to a stop in the 2900 block of Sunset Circle and attempted to flee on foot. However, he was apprehended by patrol officers. During the course of the arrest, it was discovered that Jamison was in possession of narcotics and an illegal firearm.
Further investigation revealed that he is a convicted felon, making his possession of a firearm unlawful. Consequently, Xavier Jamison has been charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in a vehicle.
