Shreveport Police Report Wave of Domestic Violence Arrests Over Weekend
The Shreveport Police Department (SPD) is reaffirming its commitment to community safety following a series of domestic violence incidents that took place over the weekend.
In a recent statement, department officials emphasized that holding offenders accountable and protecting vulnerable residents remains a top priority for local law enforcement.
Multiple Arrests Made Across Shreveport
Officers were kept busy over the weekend of February 20th through February 22 as they responded to several volatile situations:
Angela Williams: Arrested on February 22 in the 7100 block of Ridgemoor. Williams faces a charge of Domestic Abuse Battery. During the booking process, authorities discovered she was also wanted on a fugitive warrant and for Contempt of Court.
James Hampton: Taken into custody on the evening of February 20. Hampton is charged with both Domestic Abuse Battery and Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault.
Jerry Carter: Arrested on February 20 and charged with Simple Battery of a Dating Partner and Resisting an Officer. Carter was also found to have an active fugitive warrant from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Child Present During Violent Incident
In one of the most concerning cases of the weekend, officers arrested Cedric Nash in the early hours of February 22. Nash has been charged with Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and Domestic Abuse Battery – Child Endangerment. According to police reports, the violent encounter was witnessed by a child under the age of 13.
The SPD noted that the presence of children in these situations creates a lasting and devastating impact on the family unit, further driving the department's mission to ensure survivors have access to legal protection and support services.
