Child Rescued As Police Respond To Shreveport Stabbing Incident
Shreveport Police Department is investigating a violent domestic incident that occurred on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
SPD responded after receiving reports of a stabbing. Officers learned the adult female victim had been taken to LSU Health Shreveport / Ochsner for treatment after stating she had been stabbed by her live-in boyfriend.
The victim told Officers that her 12 year-old autistic son remained inside the apartment with the suspect. Officers made forced entry into the residence, where both the juvenile and the suspect were found.
Investigators determined the suspect, later identified as Steven Thompson, was believed to be intoxicated at the time of the incident. Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Thompson.
The victim told Police, Thompson got drunk earlier in the day and began threatening to stab and kill her. She stated Thompson grabbed a knife from the kitchen and chased her into a bedroom, where she was stabbed in the right forearm and left thigh.
The victim said she fled the apartment, but Thompson followed her into the parking lot and started strangling her. She was eventually able to escape to the apartment complex front office, where management called police.
SPD’s Real Time Crime Center was able to review video footage from the parking lot that corroborated portions of the victim’s account.
Following the investigation, Thompson was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on these charges:
· Domestic Abuse Battery With Child Endangerment
· Domestic Abuse Battery Intentionally Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury With a Dangerous Weapon
· Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation
· Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault
The 12-year-old child was safely released to a grandparent at the scene.
