Shreveport Man Arrested for Domestic Strangulation
Yesterday, Shreveport Police were called to the Ashton Pines apartments on West 70th Street to reports of domestic violence.
When SPD got to the scene, they found a woman who said she was attacked by Timothy Young. According to the reports, Young was on top of the victim with his hands around her throat. While the strangulation was happening, the victim's 18 year-old son heard her screaming. The teen ran in to the room, saw what was happening, and attempted to intervene to defend his mother. The teen was injured while fighting to stop Young, but was able to subdue him until Police got to the apartment.
SPD Officers secured the scene and were able to take Young in to Custody. Young was taken to a medical center for treatment before being booked in the Shreveport City Jail. The woman suffered deep bruising and a broken tooth during the scuffle.
From SPD:
"Timothy Young has been arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Battery (by strangulation) and two counts of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment.
The Shreveport Police Department commends the bravery of the young man who acted decisively to protect his mother and acknowledges the quick response of patrol officers who ensured the safety of everyone involved.
Domestic violence continues to devastate families in our community, and SPD remains dedicated to protecting victims, providing resources, and ensuring offenders are held accountable."
