Shreveport Police Searching for Domestic Murder Suspect
Investigators with Shreveport’s Violent Crimes Unit are searching for a man believed responsible for the late afternoon murder of a woman in east Shreveport.
On August 156, 2023, just before 5:15 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 3000 block of Dallas Streets on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located a woman suffering from at least one gunshot injury. She was transported to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department but succumbed to her injuries shortly after her arrival.
Investigators with the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene and launched their investigation. Crime Scene Investigators collected evidence and detectives spoke with witnesses. Through their hours-long investigation, they learned that the victim was involved in a dispute with her boyfriend, Richard Spencer (4-5-1968). Detectives believe that Spencer produced a firearm during the dispute and shot the victim at least once.
Detectives procured a warrant for Spencer charging him with (1) one count of 2nd Degree Murder. His bond is set at $750,000.00.
