Shreveport Man Arrested for Domestic Home Invasion
Over the weekend, the Shreveport Police Department was called out to what they were told was a disorderly person, but it turned out to be a home invasion.
When SPD got to the scene on Fountain Terrace, they found that the person was still there. Police identified the man as 36 year-old Donald Ashley. Ashley was visibly intoxicated and extremely agitated. SPD tried to de-escalate the situation and offered to take Ashley home or to a safe place. Ashley only became more aggressive.
While Officers were investigating, and trying to calm the situation, they learned that Ashley had unlawfully forced his way in to a residence. Evidence showed that the act constituted a Home Invasion. When Officers attempted to arrest Ashley, he violently resisted. Ashley tried several times to remove an Officer's gun from it's holster, but Police were able to subdue Ashley and arrest him.
Ashley was taken into custody and was later hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.
He has since been charged with the following:
· One count of Home Invasion
· One count of Battery of a Dating Partner
· One count of Resisting an Officer
· Two counts of Battery of a Police Officer
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department commends the involved officers for their professionalism and restraint during this dangerous encounter."
