Shreveport Police officers responded to a major crash at the intersection of Kings Highway and Fairfield Avenue.

When SPD got to the scenel, Officers learned the incident was connected to a domestic disturbance reported earlier from Kings Highway.

A 50-year-old male was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport with injuries sustained during the incident. Through the course of the investigation, officers and detectives determined the events stemmed from an ongoing domestic violence situation involving Jerad Lee Tyra.

SPD spoke with the victim who reported that earlier this week, she went to Tyra’s home on West 71st Street. During that time, she was allegedly strangled and bitten in the face by Tyra in front of four children.

The victim told SPD that Tyra left, but returned the following morning while her father was there to pick her up. A physical altercation then occurred between Tyra and the victim’s father. During this confrontation, Tyra left the residence with their six-month-old child in a vehicle.

The victim and her father followed Tyra to Kings Highway. The victim’s father got out of his car and attempted to intervene as Tyra was leaving with the infant. During this attempt, the father climbed onto the vehicle. Tyra continued driving, traveling down Kings Highway before turning onto Fairfield Avenue, at which point the victim’s father fell from the vehicle, resulting in injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Jerad Lee Tyra was arrested and charged with one count of Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation and four counts of Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment.
