Shreveport Man Arrested for DUI After Crashing in to Cop Car
On August 10, 2024, at approximately 10:30 PM, a Shreveport police officer was patrolling Youree Drive when a vehicle reportedly ran a stop sign and collided with the officer's police cruiser at the intersection of Youree Drive and East Herndon Street.
Rather than stopping to render aid, the driver fled the scene, leaving the injured officer behind. Despite the situation, the officer was able to radio for assistance. The suspect, later identified as Darlin Vazquez, 24, was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Vazquez has been charged with one count of hit and run, one count of DWI (first offense), one count of driving without a license, along with additional traffic offenses. Fortunately, the officer involved was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community and holding those who endanger others accountable for their actions.
