Shreveport Man Arrested for Using Counterfeit Cash at Wingstop
Shreveport Caddo Financial Crimes Task Force have arrested a man following an investigation into the attempted use of counterfeit currency.
Earlier this month, Shreveport Police were told of an incident involving counterfeit money at Wingstop. Officers were able to detain Tobias Lockett at the scene, and detectives with the Financial Crimes Unit responded to the investigation.
Witnesses at the business told SPD Lockett entered the business and attempted to use several counterfeit bills to buy food. The manager quickly noticed the money was fraudulent and stalled to keep Lockett at the location while Police got to the scene.
The manager also told SPD that he recognized Lockett from a previous incident at the Wingstop location in Shreve City, where he passed counterfeit money that was discovered after the transaction was completed.
As a result of the investigation, Tobias Lockett has been charged with Monetary Instrument Abuse.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department reminds businesses and citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspected counterfeit currency to law enforcement immediately.
