Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Contractor Fraud
Police say this guy left a lot of unfinished business around town!
Shreveport Police got a call from a person about house work that she paid for that was left unfinished. The person said they entered in to a contract with Melvin Hill for inside and outside house work at her home on Jonquil.
The woman paid Hill $25,000 upfront back in July of last year, then another $10,000 on a quoted $49,000 job. After the money was paid to Hill, he ghosted the home owner and left her with unfinished work at her home.
Detectives started an investigation and found that Hill did not have a valid contractor's license or home improvement registration with the State. Police went looking for Hill, but he wasn't that hard to find. Hill was already booked in to Caddo Correctional Center for completely unrelated crimes.
Hill has been charged with Residential Contractor Fraud as a result of the investigation.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department urges anyone who may have been a victim of similar fraudulent activity to come forward and contact investigators."
