Shreveport Christmas Traffic Stop Leads to High-Speed Case
SHREVEPORT, LA Man’s Not-So-Merry Christmas Leads to Arrest Following Chase Through Shreveport
On Christmas Day, just after 8:00 PM, Shreveport Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Grove Avenue and Greenwood Road. The vehicle's driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit that led officers through various parts of the city.
During the chase, officers discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Sumner Street and San Jacinto Avenue when the suspect's vehicle crashed. The vehicle overturned, striking a gas line and several street signs in the process. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
The driver, identified as Srderrick Wilson, was taken into custody and now faces numerous charges, including:
- Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (for operating the stolen vehicle),
- Flight from an Officer,
- Possession of Schedule II Narcotics,
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and
- Illegal Carrying of Weapons.
Shreveport police issued a statement saying: This incident underscores the dedication of Shreveport Police officers to ensure public safety, even on holidays.
