Shreveport Police Arrest Two Women for Child Desertion
The Shreveport Police Department has recently made arrests in two separate child desertion incidents, addressing growing concerns in the community.
On May 14, at approximately 10:30 AM, officers responded to a welfare concern in the 4300 block of North Market Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two children under the age of five left unattended inside a residence. Deasia Brown, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts of child desertion.
The previous day, on May 13, officers were dispatched to 4305 Illinois Avenue, where they found a 10-month-old child left unattended in a vehicle. Shawnetterian Pearson, 23, was arrested and charged with one count of child desertion.
The Shreveport Police Department would like to remind the public that children should only be left alone if they are capable of fending for themselves. This includes the ability to call for help if needed and perform basic tasks to avoid dangerous situations. Small children should never be left to supervise other small children.
We take these matters seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in our community. If you witness any instances of child neglect or have concerns about a child's welfare, please contact the Shreveport Police Department immediately.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty. Booking photos are not available due to the revised statute.
