Shreveport Police Investigating Violent Cedar Grove Murder

Shreveport Police are investigating a shooting call that has left a male deceased. This call came into dispatch around 2:37 p.m. from the W. 73rd Street, which is located in the Cedar Grove neighborhood.

When first responders arrived on the scene, they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced deceased on the scene, as an ending result of his injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other details are available at this time. We will update when more information becomes available.

After further investigations, the Caddo Coroner has released the name of the victim of this murder.

Jamare Foster, 23, of the 700 block of West 73rd Street, was shot several times as he walked in the 7300 block of Clift Avenue at 2:37 p.m.

Foster's death marks the 61st homicide in Caddo Parish to date in 2023, and the 57th within the Shreveport city limits.

An autopsy was ordered.
