
Shreveport Police Car Chase Ends With Gun and Drug Charges
Over the weekend, Shreveport Police attempted a traffic stop that quickly turned into a pursuit when the driver.
The man behind the wheel refused to stop, and led Officers on a chase through the city. Officers were eventually able to catch up to him and safely took him into custody.
After identifying and arresting Jimmy Jenkins, Officers found a gun that turned out to have been stolen, and Schedule II narcotics. Running Jenkins' Record revealed he is a multi-convicted felon, with previous convictions including purse snatching, narcotics offenses, and aggravated burglary.
Jenkins is now facing several felony charges, including:
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
- Carrying a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance
- Possession of Schedule II narcotics

"The Shreveport Police Department is committed to getting illegally possessed firearms out of the hands of those prohibited from having them.
Chief Smith commended the officers for their outstanding work in safely apprehending Jenkins and removing another illegal firearm from our streets."
