Shreveport Man Arrested for Car Burglary and Striking Officer
At approximately 8:00 AM, Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to a call regarding a suspicious individual in the 6200 block of Westport Avenue. The individual was reported to be in the parking lot of Walmart, pulling car door handles and attempting to enter various vehicles.
Responding officers quickly located the suspect in the adjacent parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Upon making contact, the man resisted arrest and even struck one of the officers. Fortunately, the officer was able to subdue the suspect and take him into custody without injury.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Corey Leblanc, has been arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- One count of Resisting an Officer
- One count of Battery of a Police Officer
- One count of Criminal Trespass
- One count of Simple Burglary
Chief Smith commended his officers for their quick response and vigilance in handling the situation, preventing further criminal activity, and ensuring the safety of the community.
