Shreveport Man Arrested for Beating an Elderly Man
Over the weekend, Shreveport Police were called out to Lyon Avenue to reports of a brutal assault.
When SPD got to the scene, paramedics with the Shreveport Fire Department were already there treating the 65 year-old man for cuts to his face.
After interviewing witnesses, Police determined that a man approached the 65 year-old victim asking for food and cigarettes.
Then, seemingly unprovoked the man started hitting the victim in the face several times leaving him with visible injuries. After a short investigation, SPD was able to identify the suspect as Ashton Slocum.
An off-duty Police Officer noticed a man who matched Slocum's description in a nearby Brookshire's Grocery parking lot. The off-duty Officer was able to approach and detain Slocum until on-duty Police Officers could arrive.
Slocum was arrested and charged with one count of Second Degree Battery and one count of Battery of the Infirm due to the victim’s age.
