Shreveport Man Wanted for Battery of a Pregnant Victim

Shreveport Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating a man, who is wanted in for a violent domestic incident.

Officers responded to a domestic violence incident involving Deuteronomi Jernigan and an adult female victim. During the investigation, officers learned a two year-old child was present during the altercation.

Investigators were able to determine the child was exposed to the violence and that Jernigan allegedly choked the victim, causing her to gag and cough due to the force applied.

Detectives also reviewed video from inside the home that according to SPD depicted an extremely violent attack in which Jernigan hit the victim several times. The video went on to show him going outside, taking a child’s car seat from a vehicle, and hitting the victim in the face again.

Officers documented injuries sustained by the victim. Detectives also confirmed the victim was six months pregnant at the time of the incident.

Jernigan is currently wanted for the following charges:

· Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment

· Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation

· Domestic Abuse Battery with a Pregnant Victim
