
Shreveport Police Arrest Man Following Assault of Elderly Woman
On Saturday, Shreveport Police were called out to Camelback Drive to reports of an assault.
When Police got to the scene, they found an 86 year-old woman with several visible injuries. The woman was treated on the scene by SFD paramedics before being transported to Ochsner LSU Health with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Violent Crime Unit met the woman at the hospital to further investigate this horrific incident. Staff at the hospital confirmed that the woman had lacerations and broken bones as a result of the attack. despite the severity of the injurie, the woman is expected to recover.
The man the woman said attacked her was identified as Joe White. SPD was at the scene of the home when White barricaded himself inside. After a short time SPD was able to get White out of the home and arrest him. Police interviewed witnesses and determined that the victim was delivering food to White's mother and the woman was attacked unexpectedly by White.
How White got his visible injuries was not made clear.
Joe White has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Battery in connection with the assault. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
