
Two Men Arrested by Shreveport Police for Assault With a Bat
On Monday afternoon, Shreveport Police were called to the Castlewood Apartments on Bert Kouns Industrial Loop to an assault and battery.
When officers showed up to the scene, they found the 37 year-old victim suffering from multiple injuries to his face and head. An investigation showed that the victim was drinking with several people at the apartment complex before the beating happened. at some point he was taken to a car where the victim reportedly caused some kind of damage to the inside of the car, leading to a violent altercation.
Officers were able to determine that 53 year-old Reagan Wilson hit the victim several times with a closed fist. The situation escalated when 48 year-old James Caples hit the victim several times with a baseball bat.
Both men were arrested while still at the scene. Walton was booked into the Shreveport City Jail for one count of Second Degree Battery, and Caples was booked for one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery.
SPD had this to say about the victim's condition:
"The victim was transported to Ochsner LSU Health for treatment. Shortly after arrival, he lost consciousness and had to be intubated. Medical personnel feared he had suffered internal and cranial trauma.
Fortunately, after scans and further examination, doctors determined there were no skull fractures or internal injuries. The victim is expected to make a full recovery."
