Shreveport Woman Arrested for Alleged Arson With Children Present
Shreveport Police have arrested a woman following an aggravated arson and child cruelty investigation on Crofton Street.
Over the weekend, SPD Officers responded to Crofton Street after receiving reports of a house fire. Dispatchers were also told that a woman was allegedly attempting to set the home on fire, assaulting her children, and chasing them down the street.
When SPD and SFD got to the scene, Officers found the woman, identified as Krystal Bromsey, near the intersection of East Stoner Avenue and Rex Avenue. Four juvenile children who had been inside the home were also found.
A fire investigator with SFD determined that Bromsey had allegedly poured gasoline from a gas-powered weed eater onto the kitchen stove, causing it to ignite while the children were inside the home.
Investigators interviewed the children, who provided statements to SPD identifying Bromsey as the person responsible for starting the fire. Officers also learned of a separate incident reported to have happened back in July, in which Bromsey allegedly poured hot water onto one of the children and struck the child with a shoe, frying pan, and her hand.
Bromsey was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation before being taken into custody.
She has been charged with:
· Four counts of cruelty to juveniles
· One count of domestic abuse battery
· One count of criminal neglect of family
· One count of aggravated arson
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department would like to thank the Shreveport Fire Department and its investigators for their assistance in this case."
