Detectives with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Byrd High School student for cyberbullying.

On March 31, 2023, detectives opened an investigation into an incident involving a 15-year-old victim who received a social media message that said, “to kill yourself.” After obtaining two search warrants, detectives were able to determine the identity and address of the suspect. They say after contacting the suspect’s father, they agreed to meet at the high school. There the student was read their Miranda Rights, and afterwards, the 16-year-old student admitted to creating the social media account and sending the message.

The juvenile was arrested and charged with one count of Cyberbullying. The student was released back into the custody of their father.
