Shreveport Police have arrested another convicted felon found in possession of firearms and narcotics following an early-morning investigation.

During the investigation, SLIU agents made contact with Diamond Smith and found that he was in possession of drugs and several guns.

A background check showed that Smith is not allowed to possess firearms due to previous felony convictions involving narcotics offenses and felony possession of stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, Smith has been charged with:

Two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

• One count of Distribution of Narcotics

From SPD:

"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to removing illegal firearms from the hands of convicted felons and holding those who traffic narcotics accountable. Arrests such as these help make our community safer and prevent violent crime before it occurs.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be possible."
