Late Sunday night, Shreveport Police responded to a suspicious person call from Busby Street after being told that a violent suspect was in the area.

The suspect, Robert Dunham, also known as “Bobby” is a man with an arrest warrant connected to a brutal assault involving a woman under a Downtown bridge.

When officers attempted to stop Dunham, he immediately took off from Police, first on a bicycle and then on foot, weaving through neighborhoods, cutting behind homes, and jumping fences to escape arrest. His attempt to flee was short-lived.

After a brief pursuit, SPD Officers were able to take Dunham into custody without further threat to the public.

Dunham has been charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder stemming from the November beating of a woman beneath the Cotton Street Bridge. This brutal assault left a lasting impact on the victim.

While Dunham was fighting with Officers during his arrest, he sustained minor injuries to his head and was treated prior to being booked.

From SPD:

"This arrest is the result of persistent police work and a clear message: violent offenders will be found, and they will be held accountable.

If you have information related to this case or any violent crime in our city, contact the Shreveport Police Department or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward."
