Shreveport Police Arrest Nearly 200 in Three-Day Operation
City Officials are touting their victory in the three-day 'Operation Curveball' which lead to the arrest of almost 200 people.
SPD worked together with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Bossier PD, City Marshall, State Police, FBI, ATF, the US Attorney, and other organizations to make sure the operation went off without a hitch.
The operation was simply to work as quickly as possible to take down illegal operations known to Police.
During the operation, Police were able to shut-down two vape/smoke shops on Mansfield Road who were selling illegal drugs. They were also able to shut-down a planned robbery where the suspects were going to cross from Shreveport in to Bossier to rob people they had pre-selected.
Police executed several warrants and the numbers are in:
118 warrants executed
60 felony arrests
128 misdemeanor arrests
$30,000 in illegally obtained cash seized
52 firearms seized
Police were also able to seize a large number of drugs adding up to $115,000 in street value:
5,000 grams of marijuana
3,800 grams of mushrooms
47 grams of cocaine
29 grams of crack cocaine
111 doses of ecstasy
Mayor Tom Arceneaux had this to say of the huge bust on social media:
"I am so proud of our City, Parish, and State law enforcement. Today, SPD hosted a press conference to announce the results from Operation Curve ball led by SPD Lt. Steve McKenna, and they were extreme.
This was a three-day operation executed by the offices of SPD, Sheriff, City Marshall, FBI, DA, ATF, State Police, US Attorney, BPD and more. Our law enforcement is working hard, and most importantly working together, to keep our streets and our families safe. Congratulations to you all on a hugely successful operation."
