Shreveport Man Arrested Following Armed Robbery Investigation
Back in September, Shreveport Police were called to a business on Centenary Boulevard to reports of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, SPD was given a description of the man who robbed the store. They were told the man entered the store with a large knife. The victim said, the man then went behind the counter, made threats with the knife, and demanded the clerk to fill a bag with cartons of cigarettes.
The man was said to have fled the scene on foot with the stolen smokes. Detectives immediately started an investigation, and were able to get several leads. A collaborative effort between the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana Probation and Parole developed.
Yesterday, SPD was able to obtain a search warrant for the home of Solly Thompkins. While Police were searching the home, they found several items linked to the armed robbery.
Thompkins was taken into custody at the SPD's Detective’s Office. He was later transported to the Shreveport City Jail, where he was booked on one count of Armed Robbery.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department is grateful for the assistance provided by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana Probation and Parole in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion."
