High water on the Red River, caused by recent heavy rains, has prompted the Red River Waterway Commission to close the public boat launches it operates in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.

Specifically, it's closed the Teague Parkway facility in Bossier City, the Stoner Avenue facility in Shreveport, the North Caddo/Bossier facility at the Hwy 2 bridge between Plain Dealing and Hosston, and the Bishop Point facility south of Shreveport at Lock & Dam #5.

The Waterway Commission says anybody wanting to access the river should contact the private marinas for current launching conditions.

The Commission expects to re-open the public ramps as soon as conditions are deemed safe for public use again.
