On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 4:17 PM, the Shreveport Fire Department received a
911 call reporting a house on fire in the 600 block of West 63rd Street in Shreveport’s
Cedar Grove community. Engine 9 arrived on scene within three (3) minutes and reported smoke and flames coming from the front of a one-story residential structure.

It took the efforts of twenty-four (24) firefighters operating nine (9) units to bring the fire
under control at 4:34 PM. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries to firefighters, or the public were reported. However, one dog was found deceased within the house.

The house sustained heavy fire, smoke, and heat damage and is a total loss. The
American Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced occupant with their immediate
needs. Investigators determined that the fire originated in the front portion of the structure but the exact cause remains under investigation.
