Shreveport Police Get More Guns Off the Streets Arresting 3 Felons
The Shreveport Police have been hard at work trying to get guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. SPD made three arrests.
Last Sunday evening Police pulled over a car on Hollywood Avenue near St. Vincent. SPD searched the car and found that the driver Shania Davis had a handgun in the car. After putting the gun in a safe place, Police ran Davis' name through the system and found out that she is a convicted felon.
Davis was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Yesterday evening SPD's Violent Crimes Abatement Team was investigating a home on Valley View Drive. While Police were there they found Lathara Anderson with a handgun in the home. Officers secured the gun and they found that Anderson was also a convicted felon.
Anderson was arrested for felony possession of a firearm.
The VCAT team wasn't done yet! Later that same evening Police stopped a car on Thornhill Avenue near Kings Highway. Police found out that the driver had used a fake name with them. Once he knew he was caught, he fled on foot.
After a short chase SPD found drugs and a gun on Tabrodron Ellis. Ellis not only was a convicted felon, but also had multiple warrants out for his arrest.
Ellis was arrested for, felony possession of a firearm, resisting an officer, possession of a stolen firearm, and several other offenses.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department will continue to do everything possible to remove illegal firearms from our streets and ensure that those prohibited from possessing them are held accountable."
