Shooting In Mooretown Area Leaves Shreveport Man Dead

An early-morning shooting in the Mooretown area leaves a man dead. It happened just before 1 o'clock at an apartment complex in the 5600 block of Kennedy Drive.

Police responding to an assault and battery call found 50-year-old Jock Maurice McKinney in the street suffering from a single gunshot wound to the lower body. He was taken to LSU Hospital, where he died.

Investigators believe McKinney had walked to a nearby store at some point furing the night and may have been on his way home when the shooting took place. Police haven't identified a suspect yet.
