Just before 5:30 this morning, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office received a call about fuel leaking from a truck moving south on Highway 169 in North Caddo Parish.

Deputies responded to the call and stopped the 18 wheeler at the intersection of LA-538 and North Market Street, but not before the truck had already spilled an estimated three hundred gallons of diesel fuel all over Hwy 538, Hwy 169, and Hwy 1.

Sgt. EJ Parker said the leak started at Croom Street in Mooringsport on LA-538 after the landing gear of the truck was clipped at the train tracks. No train was involved.

The State Highway Department is on the way to the scene. The oil company involved is also bringing sand to help with the clean up.

Soundbound lanes from Mooringsport to Blanchard and northbound lanes from Blanchard to where the truck is stopped are closed at this time. Drivers are asked to drive carefully.
