Seaton, Sims Back in Court Today

A couple of big cases in Caddo District Court today...55-year-old Larry Wayne Sims faces a preliminary examination on a second-degree murder charge. He's charged with the November 2011 shooting death of Nelson Varela at a residence in the 6200 block of Buncombe Road. And Shreveport's former Assistant Chief Administrative Officer faces another round of arguments and hearings on a rape charge. Rick's Seaton's bench trial is set for January 17th.

In another upcoming case, Carlton James Church will return to court January 19th at 2 p.m. for a special hearing. The judge will hear defense motions and evidence during a sentencing hearing. Church was convicted by a Caddo Parish jury of manslaughter.
