Find Your Scottish Roots This Weekend in Minden
With all the things about our area that one could complain about, and that could apply to anyplace, there's one thing that our area excels at, and that is festivals. We're not too far away from Mudbug Madness, there's the world-famous Red River Revel, Shreveport and Bossier Farmer's Markets, Let the Good Times Roll Festival, and many, many more.

And coming up this weekend in downtown Minden is the 23rd Annual Scottish Tartan Festival. The festival originated on Cameron Farms, outside of Minden 23 years ago, but 3 years ago moved to Miller's Quarters near downtown Minden.
The one-day festival features live music, dancers, great food, arts and crafts, and of course, Highland Games.
Live Music Featured All Day
Enjoy traditional and modern Celtic music with bands Emerald Accent, Cleghorn, Mandolin State, harpist Miriam Bennett. If you've never experienced the quick feet of the Thistle Dancers & Pipers and the agility of the Jackson Irish Dancers as they perform Highland dance and jigs, you're in for a treat.
Learn about history through the exhibits of artisans and craftsmen. Cheer on your favorite champion at the Highland Games competition or enter your furry friend in the Dog Show. Come see which contestant can “down a pound” of haggis in the “Haggis-Eating Contest” while you enjoy Scottish foods, as well as traditional festival foods. Feel free to dance around the Maypole, and shop till you drop with the many Celtic vendors.
