Sci-Port Closing, Under Going Management Change
Sci-Port in Shreveport will shut down while its non-profit board makes management changes. The Planet Aqua Group, who is opening an aquarium at the old Barnwell Center, will take over management of Sci-Port.
The learning museum will be closed from Labor Day until Dec. 31. The IMAX movie venue will remain open during the transition.
The Board of Directors will pay $113,000 a year to Planet Aqua to run the facility. The contract is reportedly for 2 years.
Because of the changes, all Sci-Port employees are being let go.
The new management company is planning a job fair to hire new workers for when the science center re-opens.
