School Closures Announced for Caddo and Bossier Parishes

As a result of the ongoing winter weather, schools in both Caddo and Bossier parishes will not be in session Monday and Tuesday. School officials cited unsafe travel conditions, icy roads and extreme cold as the primary reasons for the closures.
Parents and students are encouraged to monitor official school district communication channels for updates regarding virtual learning, make-up days or additional closures should conditions worsen or fail to improve.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport continues to report that this storm system is producing hazardous travel conditions and we are expecting very cold temperatures Sunday night which will mean a refreeze of the winter precip that is already on the roads.

Ice Storm and Extreme Cold Warnings Remain in Effect

Ice Storm Warning remains in effect for Caddo and Bossier parishes. Dangerously low temperatures could keep roads frozen for a few more days. Officials warn that bridges, overpasses and untreated roadways will remain especially hazardous, even during daylight hours.

We will see the temps rise a little bit, but barely getting above freezing over the next couple of days. This could result in burst pipes and downed tree limbs due to ice buildup.
