Robert Bond, the Bossier Parish man accused of killing his wife and burning her remains, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The verdict came down from the Bossier Parish court Tuesday morning.

Bond pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife Annie Bond last November. Authorities found her charred body in Webster Parish.

The plea deal Bond agreed to reduced the amount of time Bond would have to serve from life in prison without parole to 40 years of hard labor.

Bond had attempted to evade capture following the crime by fleeing Louisiana. He was later apprehended in Mississippi, where he was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
