Hear Ringo Starr Team Up With Paul McCartney and Joe Walsh on ‘We’re On the Road Again’
Ringo Starr's new Give More Love LP is still weeks away from stores — but fans don't have to wait to hear "We're On the Road Again," featuring guest appearances from Joe Walsh and Starr's fellow former Beatle Paul McCartney.
The song, co-written with Toto guitarist and All-Starr Band member Steve Lukather, lives up to its title with a lighthearted look at Starr's travels as a touring musician and lines about how they "play really tight, we play really loud ... telling stories, having a laugh / Singing my song 'Photograph.'" As previously reported, McCartney and Walsh tracked their contributions in Starr's home studio earlier this year, where the trio took a photo that Starr posted with his usual professions of "peace and love."
Give More Love, due Sept. 15, finds Starr following his usual custom of inviting numerous special guests to join him in the studio; aside from Lukather, McCartney and Walsh, the record also features appearances from Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter and Walsh's fellow Eagle Timothy B. Schmit, among others.
Starr won't have to wait long to add an extra meta layer to "We're On the Road Again" by performing it live — he's already lined up his next round of tour dates, which will see him playing with the All-Starr Band throughout October and November, starting with a run of shows at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. As he recently told Billboard, getting up onstage still hasn't lost its thrill.
"I have a lot of fun with audiences, because, you know, two things happen," said Starr. "They know I love them, and I know they love me. And I’m proud of the music we the Beatles made and that I’m still making. I still do my best for Give More Love just like I did for Sgt. Pepper. I just do the best I can. I’m just getting through today, and we’ll see what tomorrow brings."
