Registration is open for a special program focusing on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

The free course offered by the Caddo Sheriff's Office covers things like texting, cell phones and music -- as well as alcohol and drug use.

Part of the lesson is operating an electric vehicle while wearing impairment goggles that simulate the effects of driving under the influence.

There are two sessions on Friday, July 26th, at Sheriff's Safety Town. One runs from 10 a.m. until noon, the other from 1 to 3 p.m. Each session is limited to 15 participants, so pre-registration is required.

Call 698-7233 to get your teens signed up. They will need to have a valid driver's license or learner's permit to attend.
