UPDATE: Swepco has confirmed that the balloon did contact power lines on East Kings Highway Sunday morning. This contact caused 2-3 fuses to blow. Crews quickly arrived to replace fuses and one malfunctioned causing a brief outage in The Haven.

Residents of south Shreveport were stunned over the weekend when a hot air balloon appeared to drop so low it nearly touched some homes.

KEEL News has gotten video from residents in the Les Maison subdivision when the balloon dropped very low. This subdivision is right next door to the Haven and LSUS.

It's not unusual to see hot air balloons flying in this area on the weekends. LSUS is one of places where these balloons take off and land.

One resident posted on social media that a hot air balloon hit a power line.

Jennifer LeGendre Eulate posted this message:

South Broadmoor: Who saw and heard when the hot air balloon touched the power lines. That balloon shot back up into the air and we haven't seen it again.

KEEL reached out to Swepco to see if a balloon came into contact with power lines in south Shreveport this weekend. Michael Corbin says lights blinked in several subdivisions and residents in The Haven lost power briefly.

He says it sounds like this balloon pilot got very lucky.
