Police And Citizens Aid In Collaring Robbery Suspect
A Shreveport man is behind bars this afternoon less than 48 hours after surveillance video showing him robbing a local convenience store was released.
Shreveport Police detectives arrested 21 year old Jarvis Hightower this morning without incident at his home in the 9000 block of Kingston Road and later booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple robbery. Hightower is accused of robbing the Valero in the 3000 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop back on January 24, 2011.
Investigators did not have much to go on until last Monday afternoon when they released surveillance footage of the robbery to our local media partners. Within hours, tips from concerned citizens started coming into the Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers tip line naming Hightower as the man shown in the video robbing the store. Based on these tips and other evidence, detectives were able to positively identify Jarvis Hightower as the robbery suspect.
Chief of Police Willie Shaw lauded the arrest, saying, “This is a perfect example of how cooperation between the police department and the citizens we have sworn to serve and protect serves the greater good of our community. We are very proud of our relationships with the local media as well as Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers and this arrest comes as a direct result of those partnerships.”
