The Pirates of the Red Parrot Head Club invite the public to join them to "party with a purpose" at their first annual "Hurricane Party" tomorrow, July 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Krewe of Gemini Den in Bossier City.

The Hurricane Party is presented by Southland Printing. All proceeds from the party will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Shreveport.

The majority of the "Hurricane Party" events will be indoors at the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras Museum located at 2101 East Texas Street in Bossier City, LA.

Admission to the Tropical Island - Pirate - Mardi Gras-themed event comes with three bands, family-friendly activities, complimentary photo booth and photos, an ice sculpture shot luge, a shot ski tiki bar, non-alcohol drinks, food by Chimi V’s, and a chance at door prizes. Admission is $25.00 for 21 & up; $10.00 for ages 13-20; and kids under 13 are free. Bottomless beer cups are available for $10.00 and bottomless margarita and rum punch cups are available for $20.00. Tickets will be available at the door.

Children’s activities include two bounce houses, an inflatable slide, decorate your own pirate hat or beach ball, a sidewalk chalk area, temporary tattoos, face painting by Painting With A Twist, and a giant mural for all the kids to paint throughout the day.

The band line-up begins at 2:00 p.m. with the reggae and Caribbean jazz music of Gordon Nurse & the 318 Riddim Band. At 3:30 p.m., Julieann Banks & the Violet Crowns will play boogie classics and dance favorites. The headliner is The Bad Monkeys (from Dallas, TX) who will play "trop rock" and covers of favorite songs of Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band.

A "Booty and Swag Shop" will be open selling t-shirts, koozies, raffle tickets, and fleur-de-lis car decals (created specifically for this event).

"Parrot Head" is a commonly used nickname for fans of Jimmy Buffett and the "Pirates of the Red Parrot Head Club" is the Shreveport-Bossier chapter of Parrot Heads in Paradise, a Not-For-Profit Corporation, whose purpose is to assist in community and environmental concerns and provide a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.
