Pedestrian Hit on I-20 Identified as Shreveport Mayor Candidate
A Shreveport man has been identified as the person who was hit by a big-rig on I-20 over the weekend.
The person who was hit by the truck on Saturday (3/1/25) was 31 year-old Darryl Ray Ware II.
Police on the scene had an investigation and were able to find that Ware was standing on the shoulder of I-20 when he apparently walked in to the eastbound lane around mile-marker 8 when he was hit by an 18-wheeler.
Ware was a candidate for Shreveport Mayor, and many have said that he was the youngest candidate in Shreveport's history. This turned out to not be true as Parker Ward ran as an 18 year old in 2010, Making Ware the 2nd youngest.
The coroner released that Ware died from numerous blunt-force injuries. Shreveport Police Department is still investigating this tragic situation trying to find answers in to why.
