It took a Caddo Parish jury just over an hour to convict an Oil City man of indecent behavior with a 13-year-old three years ago.

The Caddo District Attorney's Office says 39-year-old Benjamin Floyd's trial began Tuesday, July 26, with the seven-woman, five-man jury returning a unanimous guilty verdict just before 8 p.m. this past Thursday.

Floyd faces up to 25 years in prison, with at least two years without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence. He'll be back in court August 10.

According to the DA, Floyd has a previous armed robbery conviction in Bossier Parish, and Caddo prosecutors plan to seek habitual offender enhancements during sentencing.

On August 9, the court will conduct proceedings on contempt of court charges levied against two witnesses in the case, Crystal Shoptaw and Patricia Floyd.
